Year 6 Athletics Competition

Year 3 and 4 Kwick-Cricket
Well done to all the children who took part in the cricket tournament. The children showed great determination and resilience.
Year Five Fun Run
Yesterday Year 5 had a great performance at the fun run. All children took part in the fun run and 5 boys and 5 girls took place in the elite race. 8 children are not through to county, and we are so proud of every classmate that took part. We had the parents and teachers supporting us and overall we came 1st out of all the schools in both the girls team and boys team. Well done to all of our team! By Lottie and Harriet.
Y6 Basketball Tournament
A fantastic performance by the Year 6 Basketball team. After only losing one match, drawing one and winning the rest the baksetball team WON the whole tournament!
Next year the team will be representing St Mary's in a county basketball tournament!
Well done to the children in Year Four who took part in the dance festival at Rickmansworth School. It was fantastic to see you all dancing on stage!
Our year of sport ended with a fantastic awards ceremony. The guest speaker for the evening was Alex Gregory, a double Olympic Gold medallist in Rowing. Alex told us all about how he got into the sport and how resilience, passion and determination got him to where he is now.

Football Tournament at Eastbury Farm
Well done to the Y5 football team who participated in a tournament against other local primary schools. The team showed excellent team-work, resilience and respect towards others. Coach Jack was very impressed with the team -especially as the majority of children were in Year 6!

Health and wellbeing workshop
Year Three took part in a workshop with coaches from the partnership. In the session students focused on:
What health means and what makes someone healthy
How you can become more healthy
A balanced diet and the food we eat
The effect of physical activity on health
Play Leader Training
Year 5 have participated in play leader training as a whole class. Play Leader Training provides an opportunity for pupils to learn how to lead playground activity for infants in their school. During the day, pupils considered the qualities of a successful leader and what makes a good playground session, before planning and preparing their own activities. In the afternoon, the leaders had the opportunity to put their work into practice when they deliver their games to infants.
Family competitions are where all the children can represent the school in competitive sport. This year the children have taken part in the following events run by the partnership.

Well done to Lottie, Marnie, Ben and Will. It was great to see a different sport being represented by children at St Mary's.

Year Two Athletics Competition
It was great to see so many children participate in the Year Two Athletics competition. It was there first competition and they all did extremely well!
Junior Games Maker Training
A group of year 5 children were selected to take part in the Junior Games Maker training. I look forward to hearing about the ideas they would like to implement.
Y6 Quicksticks Hockey
Well done to all the children who took part in the tournament. It was great to see the children work as a team. It is great to offer the children a range of different sporting opportunities.
Year 4 Girls' Athletics Final
Champions! Well done to the girls in Year 4 for winning the Athletics final. The girls reached the Partnership final after competing in our family group. The team completed different track and field events.
After a few close running races and some great field events the team won by 2 points.
Myself and Mr Foster were very proud of the team. It was great to see them working together and cheering each other on! I think it might have been by loudest cheer yet!
KS1 Gymnastics Competition.
Well done to the Darcie, Madia, Milena, Cameron, Sophia and Martha who took part in the KS1 gymnastics competition. The team worked really well together to learn a routine and vault exercise. It was fantastic to see them perform in front of such a large audience.
Y4 Athletics Competition
Well done to all the Y4 children! On the day the children took part in different track and field events. A massive congratulations to the girls who reached the final! Good luck!
Y4 Dance Festival
A HUGE well done to Year 4 for performing in the Dance Festival on Tuesday evening. You put on a great show that was enjoyed by all! As PE lead I always look forward to the Dance Festival and this year was another great year. Thank you to all the Year 4 children for their hard work.

Rapid Fire Cricket
Well done to the Y3 team who represented St Mary's in the Rapid Fire Cricket Tournament. It was great to watch the children work as a team. We won two of our matches and lost one. The children represented St Mary's extremely well.

Y6 Basketball Tournament
Well done to the basketball team who represented St Mary's. It was great to hear how well you all played. Daryl even commented on how many close games there were!
It is always good to try different sports and at St Mary's we believe it is good to experience as many different sports as possible!
Year Four Tri-Golf
Well done to all the children in Year Four who took part in the Tri-Golf tournament against other local schools.
Moor Park Fun Run
Well done to Leo, Hector, Charlie, Alexander, Jack, Ella, Matthew, Olivia, Ivymae, Dylan, Isaac, Jamie and Alice who took part in the Moor Park Fun Run on Thursday. It was great to see you representing the school.

Intra School Competition
Year One and Two took part in the intra-school 'Turbo Cricket' Competition on Wednesday. The children had a great afternoon!
We were lucky to be invited to Eastbury Farm on Thursday to take part in a football tournament. Well done to the Year 5 children who took part. We battled on and demonstrated great sportsmanship.
The children were awarded a football which is now the new Y5 ball!
Year Three Athletics Competition
Well done to Year Three who took part in the Year 3 Athletics Competition on Thursday. The children had to take part in field and track events. An extra special mention to the girls who won overall! Miss Moran said she was so impressed at how everyone gave it their best.
Year Five Playleader training
Last week Year Five took part in playleader training with the local sports partnership. Throughout the day they took part in lots of practical and theory lessons. The day ended with Year 5 taking Year One and Two for a sporting activity.
Well done to Year Five you! We are looking forward to having the playleaders on KS1 playground next year.
Year 4 Tennis Tournament
Well done to the children in Year Four who took part in the tennis tournament. The children showed great resilience! It is great to see so many children taking part in different sporting activities.
Yorke House Football Tournament
Well done to the boys who took part in the Yorke House Football Tournament on Wednesday. The team won alongside Sarratt Primary School. We were also awarded a Watford shirt for being the 'best team' who worked well together and supported each other.
It was a great afternoon. The shirt and trophy will be put up in the reception area of the school.
Year Two Athletics
Well done to all the children who took part in the Athletics competition at RMS. They had a fantastic time taking part in lots of different activities and sports!
Junior Games Maker Training
Today I met with the children from Year Five who attended the Junior Games Makes training. We spoke about what they had learnt on the day and how we can implement new ideas. One area we are looking to implement is: movement breaks.
Year 5 Cross Country Final
Well done to Olivia, Joe, Conor and William who took part in the cross country final on Sunday. It was a fantastic achievement. Well done for representing our school.
Year 5 Tag Rugby Final
Well done to the Year 5 Tag Rugby Team who played on Tuesday. The team showed resilience and worked extremely well as a team! The score were extremely close and the matches were great to watch!
Sports Relief 2018

The money we raise helps support many critical issues around the world. Examples of where our money can help are: malaria, maternal health and mental health. The money you donate can change countless lives. So whatever moves you, do it for Sport Relief and help to create a world where everyone is happier, healthier and safer.
Year Six Quicksticks Hockey
Well done to the Year 6 children who played in the Quicksticks Hockey tournament on Tuesday, 20th March. The children had a great time (even though it was freezing!) There were a few close goals and some great saves.
It is great to see St Mary's entering all the sporting competitions.

Junior Game Maker Training
Five children were selected from Year Five to attend Games Maker Training with other local schools. I will be meeting with the group next week to find out what they got up to! The group seem very keen to implement some new ideas for sports at St Mary's!
Year 5 Tag Rugby Festival
Well done to all the children who took part in the Year 5 Tag Rugby Festival on Thursday. The children competed against other local schools.
Well done to Amelia, Ethan, William, Faye, Athene, Elisa, Ollie, Sam, Rennie and Conor who won all their matches and will be representing our school partnership at the final on 27th March and Joan of Arc.
Year Two Gymnastics
Well done to the Year Two Gymnastics Team. We came second in our performance!
Speed Stacking Club
Year 6 are running a speed stacking club on Thursday lunch times. Children from Year one and Two can attend.
It was great to see the Year 6 engaging with the younger children.

Year Six Basketball
Well done to the members of Year who 6 took part in a basketball competition against other local primary schools. They showed great determination and teamwork. Overall the team came 3rd - another great sporting achievement for St Mary's.
Year 4 Dance Festival
It was fantastic to watch Year 4 perform their dance at the Sports Partnership Dance Festival. The dance was choreographed by the children and they worked together to make sure they were in time with the music. Well done Year 4!
Year 5 Fun Run
