30th January 2026

We've had a very busy week this week!

This week in Maths, we have been deepening our understanding of numbers to 20. The children have been practising ordering and comparing numbers, using language such as greater than, less than, and equal to. They have worked hard to explain their thinking and are growing in confidence.

In English, we have continued to focus on handwriting, paying close attention to correct letter formation and presentation. Alongside this, we have been learning and practising our common exception words, working hard to read and spell these tricky words accurately.

Our learning in Science has been all about the human ear. We explored the different parts of the ear and discussed how we use our ears to hear the world around us. The children enjoyed identifying different sounds and understanding why our ears are so important.

In RE, we learned about the story of Ruth. We discussed themes of kindness, loyalty, and helping others, and the children shared thoughtful ideas about how we can show these values in our own lives.

During PSHE, we talked about keeping our private parts private. The children learned that their bodies belong to them and that they should not let just anyone look at or touch their private parts. This was taught in a gentle, age-appropriate way, focusing on staying safe and knowing who to talk to if they feel worried.

The children are also working very hard each day to complete their tidying jobs, showing responsibility and teamwork. They are doing a fantastic job earning their trust stickers as part of our Changemaker project, and we are very proud of their efforts.

Supporting Learning at Home

Please continue to read at least five times a week with your child and record this in their reading record.

Spellings will be sent home on Monday – apologies for the delay. Regular practice once they are sent home will be very helpful.

Please also keep up with handwriting practice, ensuring letters are formed correctly.

Thank you for your continued support.
