6th February 2026
What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in our classroom! The children have been working hard across all subjects and showing lots of enthusiasm for their learning.
In Maths, we have been practising adding numbers up to 20. The children used a range of resources such as number lines, counters, and practical activities to help them solve addition problems with confidence. It has been wonderful to see them explaining their thinking and checking their answers carefully.
In English, we have been planning our own stories. The children have been thinking about characters, settings, and exciting events. They are full of fantastic ideas and are really looking forward to starting their story writing later this week.
In Science, we explored our taste buds and learned about the different types of tastes, including sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. The children enjoyed identifying foods that match each taste and sharing their favourites.
During PE, we focused on teamwork. Through a range of games, the children practised working well together by taking turns, sharing ideas, and encouraging one another. We talked about how good teamwork helps everyone enjoy activities and achieve success together.
In Music, we have been learning a new song and listening carefully to identify changes in tempo. The children did a great job noticing when the music became faster or slower and joining in with enthusiasm.
In History, we explored more types of old toys and tried to work out what year we thought they might be from. The children compared toys from the past with those they play with today and had some thoughtful discussions about how toys have changed over time.
Supporting Learning at Home
Please continue to read at least five times a week with your child and record this in their reading record.
Spellings will be sent home on Monday – apologies for the delay. Regular practice once they are sent home will be very helpful.
Please also keep up with handwriting practice, ensuring letters are formed correctly.
Thank you for your continued support.
