We have come to the end of Spring 1 and it has been an incredibly busy but productive half term.

In English, the children have completed their independent writes and begun publishing. Everyone has really thought carefully about the toolkit features and tried hard to use it in their writing. .

In Maths, we moved onto dividing 4 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers with remainders. Everyone approached this positively and it was wonderful to see children being confident to use a range of strategies, including concrete and pictorial resources to support them.

In Science, we learnt about the fire triangle. The children found out that there are three things needed for a fire to stay burning - heat, oxygen and fuel. We learnt that different fire extinguishers remove a different aspect of the fire triangle.

In RE, our learning continued to focus on the Qu'ran and why people memorise it. The children were intrigued by the fact that people deliberately try to memorise the holy book and become Hafiz.

The children have worked incredibly hard on their changemaker projects and I am incredibly proud to see all their work. It was clear that the majority of children really understood how important trust is and this was reflected in their work.

Home Learning Please ensure that children are ‘in the green’ on Doodle.

  • English – past and future perfect tense

  • Maths –short division with remainders

  • Spellings – foreign, reign, knowledge, while, which, knew, wrong, write, whistle, whisper

Please continue to encourage your child to read aloud to an adult five times a week. This regular practice builds fluency, confidence and a lifelong love of reading.

Wishing you all a lovely and restful half term!
