27th February 2026
We have had a busy and positive first week back after half term!
In Maths, we have been working on taking away numbers within 20. We have been using number lines, counters and our fingers to help us solve subtraction problems, and we are becoming much more confident.
In English, we have been finishing off our stories. We worked hard to use adjectives, check our punctuation and read our work back carefully. We are very proud of our finished pieces!
Today we had lots of fun watching a production of The Wizard of Oz in the hall. The costumes were fantastic and we loved seeing the characters brought to life. It was a wonderful experience for everyone.
In Geography, we explored the countries that make up the United Kingdom. We learnt about England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we found out about their capital cities. We enjoyed locating them on a map and learning new facts.
In PE, we have been practising how to control a ball with our feet and our hands. We have been working on improving our coordination and control while moving.
In Art, we are making birds and this week we sketched different types of birds. We looked carefully at their shapes and features and practised adding detail to our drawings.
To support learning at home, please continue to read at least five times a week and record this in your child’s reading record. Spellings have gone out this week, so regular practice will be helpful. Please also keep up with handwriting practice, ensuring letters are formed correctly.
Thank you for your continued support.
