Friday, 6th March

It has been another busy week in Year 6 celebrating Book Week!

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day, and it was wonderful to see such brilliant costumes - so much thought went into them and some of the details were fabulous. Thank you for the effort that went into them. We kicked off the celebrations with The Masked Reader, and our Book Swap. Today, we snuggled down in our pyjamas for Bedtime Stories, complete with chocolate milk and a biscuit. It was a cosy, joyful way to celebrate our love of reading.

This week we also began our new science topic: Evolution and Inheritance. A huge thank you for sending in family photos. The children loved exploring inherited characteristics, comparing features such as eye colour, nose shape and height. It sparked thoughtful discussions and lots of curiosity.

In Positive Minds, we explored the topic of body image. We learned that many people, even celebrities, experience worries about how they look, but these feelings do not define our success, value or self‑worth. The children approached this with maturity and empathy.

In PSHE, we investigated bias in news reports. The class worked hard to identify facts, spot opinions and think about how to write balanced, unbiased information—a brilliant skill for both writing and critical thinking.
