Another incredibly busy but fun week in Year 5!

We began the week with the Knex challenge which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The task was to create a rocket with removable boosters and shuttle. The children worked collaboratively to create their pieces, and it was lovely to see amazing teamwork and perseverance.

Year 5 demonstrated their knowledge of the whole Mini Police project in their presentation assembly. A massive thank you to Ryun, Alan, Elaine and everyone who supported the children with their learning. They all thoroughly enjoyed the sessions over the past weeks, and I am sure they have a lot of knowledge to take with them.

We had a very warm and active-filled afternoon on Thursday at Merchant Taylor's taking part in a hockey training event. All the children who went put in excellent effort and really represented the school amazingly.

In RE, the children have been learning about holy communion. They have explored how Christians remember Jesus' sacrifice and considered modern ways that Christians could continue to remember this special time of year whether that is through an object, poetry or a story.

CHANGEMAKER PROJECT: This is the final opportunity for children to complete their 'Forgiveness' changemaker project. I have already seen so many brilliant pieces so far and am looking forward to seeing the rest.

Home Learning Please ensure that children are ‘in the green’ on Doodle.

  • English – Dashes for parenthesis

  • Maths – Compare and order decimals

  • Spellings – enough, although, through, thorough, plough, thought, nought, tough, cough, drought

Reading should be at least 5 times a week and an adult needs to sign to acknowledge that this is happening. Please ensure you are completing the reading record at home.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
