What a fantastic and busy week it has been in Year 2!
The children have worked incredibly hard with assessments going well. We are looking forward to sharing your child’s data and targets with you at Parents’ Evening next week.
In Maths, we have completed our unit on statistics. The children have shown great understanding and confidence in interpreting data. Next week, we will begin learning how to tell the time, focusing on quarter past, quarter to, minutes past, and minutes to. Any support you can give your child at home practising these skills would be greatly appreciated.
In English, the children wrote a fantastic fairy tale diary entry imaging they were Goldilocks. Their creativity and enthusiasm really shone through, and we are excited to continue developing these pieces next week.
In our foundation subjects this week:
- RE: We welcomed two visitors from Wellspring Church, Watford, who spoke to the children about how and why they celebrate Easter.
- PE: The children enjoyed mini games, practising their underarm throwing skills.
- Science: We created model life cycles of a butterfly.
- DT: Half of the class enjoyed baking biscuits this week, with the remaining children looking forward to their turn next week.
Show and Tell
Next week: Savanna, Scarlett, Siddharth, Stella, Sylvie.
As a one-off, if any other member of the class has not yet had a turn this half-term and would like to share something, they are very welcome to bring it in on Wednesday.
Change Maker Project
There is just one weekend left for your child to complete an activity at home for the Change Maker Project. This half-term’s value is forgiveness. We have explored the four activities in the booklet (see the Resources section), and we would really appreciate your support in helping your child choose and complete one.
Looking ahead to next week, we will be finishing the term with our Easter service on Thursday evening at 6pm (26th March), where Years 1 and 2 will be singing our Easter song. On the final day of term, we will also be holding our annual Easter bonnet parade, followed by time in family groups to learn about how Easter is celebrated in other countries.
It promises to be a fabulous final week of the half term!
