20th March 2026

What a busy and exciting week we've had in Year 1! The children have worked incredibly hard on their assessments, showing great focus and determination – we are so proud of all their efforts!

In maths, we have started looking at our new topic of place value in numbers. We looked at the tens and ones in different numbers.

In English, we have been exploring how to write the past tense versions of some words.

In RE, we were very lucky to have a special visitor who came to talk to us about how Christians celebrate and prepare for Easter. The children enjoyed learning about different traditions and asked some thoughtful questions.

In Geography, we have started exploring maps and compasses. The children had fun looking at different countries in the UK and discovering their unique features, learning how to find places on a map and understand the world around them.

In PSHE, we learned about money – what it is, what it’s for, and how to look after it. The children shared some excellent ideas and even practised thinking about spending and saving wisely.

In PE, we practised rolling a ball to each other and learning how to stop it safely. The children worked well with their partners and developed their control and coordination.

To support learning at home, please continue to read at least five times a week and record this in your child’s reading record.

Apologies, spellings did not get done this week with assessments happening all over the school. We will be sending out words next week for children to practice over Easter.

This is the last week to complete the Forgiveness Change Maker Project. We encourage the children to try one of the activities at home and reflect on ways they can show forgiveness to others.

We would also love to see all parents and families at our Easter Service on Thursday 26th March at 6pm. It will be a very special service with all pupils singing and taking part.

Thank you for your continued support.
