Friday 17th April 2026

A very warm welcome back to everyone! We are into Summer 1 and have a lot of exciting learning coming up over this half term.

Even though it was only a short week for the children, we have covered so much already! In Maths, we have been continuing with our learning of everything decimal numbers. We have considered how we can compare and order decimals - making sure we look at the largest place value column first.

In Science, we finished off our 'Animals, including humans' topic from last half term. We looked inside a cracked egg to investigate the different parts which help support an embryo. The children were fascinated by the fact they could see the air cell within the shell! The children went on to then either researching or creating their own animal, explaining its life cycle and suggesting ways that the animal can be protected from extinction.

We have begun planting our designated food for this half term...  cantaloupe melons! We will keep the seeds in the classroom while it is still relatively cool outside and hopefully soon we will see sprouts!
