5th September
Welcome to Year 4
We would like to wish you all a very warm welcome back to school. It has been wonderful to see the children returning after the summer break, full of energy and ready to learn.
Our Year 4 team this year is Mrs Wilson, Mrs Lattimer and Mrs Bennett.
Since coming back, the children have been busy settling into routines and sharing their summer highlights. We’ve also been hard at work:
- Writing Biography Poems, which we collected into a special class book.
- Taking part in our Vision in Action afternoon, where the children worked in their Houses to enjoy four different activities.
- Creating colourful postcards to capture summer memories.
- Designing a fun maths quiz called “Figure Me Out!”.
- Starting our new “Walk and Talk” time in PSHE, where partners ask and answer questions while walking around the playground. To practise listening carefully, children then shared their partner’s answers instead of their own.
- Even making time to visit the Secret Garden, where we tidied up the beds together.
Looking ahead:
- Home Learning will begin next week.
- In the meantime, children are encouraged to get back into Times Tables Rock Stars, and Mrs Maxwell has set a challenge to collect stars on Doodle Learning.
- Reading Records and new reading books will be handed out on Monday. These will be stamped every Friday morning if a child has read five times during the week.
Next week we will start the following topics across the curriculum:
Science - Animals (including Humans) - this includes learning about the Digestive System and Teeth.
DT - Mechanisms: Catapults
PSHE - Me and My Relationships
Music - Rock & Roll
Geography - Extreme Earth (volcanoes and earthquakes)
RE - What kind of world did Jesus want?
On Wednesday 17th September at 9am there will be a Year 4 Meet the Teacher meeting, I look forward to see you all there.
We are so proud of the children for starting the year with such enthusiasm and can’t wait to see all the exciting learning ahead!
