Friday, 1st May

We have been thoroughly enjoying the sunshine this week and have been taking lots of opportunities to explore our topics and reflect on our learning.

This week, in PSHE, year 6 have been thinking about their long‑term goals and dreams. They explored what they might like to achieve in 5, 10, 15 and even 20 years' time, and discussed the challenges they may face along the way. We also talked about the people who will support them—family, friends, teachers and future mentors—and how the choices they make now can help them move towards those ambitions.

In science, we learnt about how humans evolved from primates, exploring the key changes that happened over millions of years. The children were fascinated by how traits develop and adapt over time, including skull shapes.

Our geography lessons focused on coastal landforms, including stacks, arches and caves. We investigated how these features are formed through erosion and weathering, and enjoyed seeing how landscapes can change over time.

In RE, we explored how Humanists believe happiness can be achieved—through living a good life, making meaningful choices and focusing on what truly matters. The children made thoughtful connections to their own experiences.

Our Come Dine With Me cooking project is well underway! This week, the starter groups prepared their dishes - many children surprised themselves with their skills and creativity. On Tuesday, it will be the main course groups' turn to cook, and excitement is already building! All children will have the opportunity to sample their group's dish and take some home, so please bring in a small container on Tuesday.

This half term, our school value is courage. We have introduced the Changemaker project tasks, and we encourage families to look through them together and think about which challenge your child might like to work towards.
