Friday 8th May
Although this week was only four days long, Year 3 has still managed to cram in a huge amount of learning both in and outdoors.
In English, we have discovered the theme of our new model text, which centres around a forgotten bookshop. We are all really enjoying the suspense element of this unit of work and cannot wait to delve further next week.
In Maths, we have been measuring and comparing capacity and volume in both millilitres and litres. Next week, we will complete this unit of work before moving on to our fractions unit.
RE - This week we looked at how Christians today consider the Holy Spirit and we shone a light on the German missionary, Reinhard Bonnke.
Foundation Subjects:
History – We completed a recount of our fabulous trip to the British Museum, recording what we had learnt as well as our highlights from the visit.
Design and Technology (DT) – We created paper templates for our Egyptian collars. Next week we will use these to cut out all the fabric pieces we will need to construct them.
Music – We applied our newly acquired knowledge of the notes B and A by collectively performing a piece of music.
Home Learning:
Doodle
Please continue to support your child’s progress by accessing the Doodle Learning platform and ensuring they remain in the green zone for English, Maths, and Times Tables.
Reading
Please ensure you listen to your child read at least five times each week and sign their reading record on each occasion. This allows them to be rewarded with a star stamp for their efforts. Also, please ensure that reading books are brought into school on their allocated changing day, as noted on the front of their reading records.
Spellings
Below are this week’s spelling words to practise with your child, both in isolation and within sentences. There are also five bonus words for those who would like an extra challenge.
This week’s spelling rule continues to focus on words ending in the ‘-ous’ suffix:
furious, hazardous, adventurous, envious, various, courageous, venomous, humorous
Challenge words:
villainous, advantageous, carnivorous, luxurious, continuous
Change Maker Project
This half term, we are focusing on the value of ‘Courage’.
Please do continue supporting your child as they collect and record evidence of their chosen activity.
