22nd May 2026

This week in Year 6, we had STEM Week, where the pupils took the lead in running our fantastic Science Fair. They  showed great confidence, teamwork and enthusiasm as they shared their investigations and scientific knowledge with the rest of the school. It was wonderful to see them so engaged and passionate about science.

In Science, we have also continued our learning about the circulatory system. The pupils investigated what affects heart rate in order to understand how lifestyle choices can impact our health. They explored how exercise, rest and different activities can change heart rate and discussed the importance of making healthy choices to keep our bodies and hearts healthy.

In Geography, the class have been learning about how physical changes have affected the Earth since 1800 and what the future may hold for our planet. They thought carefully about how humans and climate change are impacting coastal areas, discussing issues such as erosion, rising sea levels and the importance of protecting our environment for future generations.

In English, the pupils have been publishing their suspense narratives. They worked incredibly hard to create engaging stories filled with tension, description and exciting plot twists. It has been fantastic to see their creativity and writing skills shine through in their final pieces.

In RE, the class explored what the world might look like if happiness was the main goal for everyone. They discussed the benefits and challenges of holding strong values and commitments and reflected thoughtfully on how these can guide people’s choices and actions.

In PSHE, we focused on first aid and learned important skills that could help us respond in emergency situations. The pupils discussed how to stay calm, help others safely and understand some basic first aid procedures.

In PE, the class applied their knowledge of batting, fielding and tactical teamwork to play in a tournament. The class demonstrated strong communication and resilience during each inning and were able to enjoy some time in the sun.

Well done to all of Year 6 for another wonderful week of learning and enjoy your half term!
