Friday 5th June
What a great first week back into our final half term! I have been incredibly proud of everyone settling back in and showing enthusiasm for learning.
In Maths, we have been looking at everything to do with coordinates. We have recalled the importance of which axis to read first and explored how we can successfully plot coordinates, translate and reflect shapes within the first quadrant.
In English, we have begun looking at our new writing unit - persuasion. The children were given different statements and to decide how strongly they agreed with them. The children then chose a topic that was personal to them and this will become their final context for writing a balanced argument as their independent write at the end of the unit.
In Music, we begun our new topic of looking at the festival of Holi. We learnt that some people experience synaesthesia - seeing colour associated with music. The children explored different pieces of music and made notations of what they felt and could see when listening to them.
In RE, we began our new topic of Gospel. The children looked at the 'Sermon on the mount' and learnt about the 'Wise and foolish builders'. The children read The Beatitudes read by Jesus and put the blessings into their own words.
We have introduced the final options of the changemaker project with the value of Perseverance. Anyone who is missing any tasks from previous terms are able to complete them to get all their stickers completed and there will be a special reward at the end of the year so please encourage your children to complete them all!
Home Learning Please ensure that children are ‘in the green’ on Doodle.
