Another busy yet productive week in Year 5!
In Maths, we have begun our new unit on decimals. The children have begun exploring strategies for adding and subtracting decimal numbers. In addition, the children looked at adding and subtracting decimals with the same place value. They thoroughly enjoyed playing a game where they had a 'target number' to reach.
In English, we have begun exploring a variety of toolkit features linked with our final writing unit of persuasive language. I have been really impressed with the emotive language the children are using in every lesson to encourage the reader to think carefully about the argument presented.
In RSE, we have been considering what safe and unsafe secrets are. The children recognised that it is important to never keep things confidential and to reach out to trusted adults in their families and communities if they feel unsafe or unsure.
In RE, we are continuing with our topic on Gospel. The children explored how prayers have four main parts - thanking, asking, praising and confessing. In addition, the children learnt about the shining a light figures of Alice and Wellesley Bailey and their incredible work for the Leprosy Mission.
We have introduced the final options of the changemaker project with the value of Perseverance. Anyone who is missing any tasks from previous terms are able to complete them to get all their stickers completed and there will be a special reward at the end of the year so please encourage your children to complete them all!
Home Learning Please ensure that children are ‘in the green’ on Doodle.
