12th June 2026

We've had a busy week this week.

In Maths, we have been exploring tens and ones and using this knowledge to work out how many tens and ones are in different numbers greater than 50. The children have been developing their understanding of place value and using this to help them read, represent and compare numbers.

In English, we have been learning how to write instructions. We have focused on using verbs (action words) to make our instructions clear and easy to follow. The children practised writing instructions for getting ready for school and thought carefully about the order of the steps.

In RE, we have been learning about the Good News that Jesus brings to Christians. We discussed what this means and explored some of Jesus' teachings about love, kindness and forgiveness.

In PE, we have been developing our defensive skills. The children have been learning how to defend against an opponent and have practised working as a team while improving their movement and positioning skills.

In Geography, we have been exploring the different coasts around the UK. We looked at the features of coastal areas and discussed how coastlines can vary across different parts of the country.

In Art, we have been learning about printing techniques. The children enjoyed creating prints using their hands to make colourful handprint artwork and exploring different patterns and textures.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Kind regards,

The Year Team

Next week, I will be accompanying Year 6 on their residential visit. The week will continue as normal for the children, and I have attached a timetable below showing which members of staff will be in class throughout the week, should you wish to talk this through with your child beforehand.

Home Learning

To support learning at home, please continue to read at least five times a week and record this in your child’s reading record. Spellings have gone out this week, so regular practice will be helpful. Please also keep up with handwriting practice, ensuring letters are formed correctly.
