26th June 2026

This week we enjoyed a slightly slower pace as we adapted to the very warm weather. The children did a fantastic job of staying positive despite the heat and loved using their handheld fans throughout the day. We also made the most of our water activities, which helped everyone stay as cool and comfortable as possible while still having lots of fun learning.

In Maths, we have been exploring positional language. The children practised using words such as above, below, next to, behind, in front of, and between to describe the position of different objects. They enjoyed taking part in practical activities to help develop their understanding.

In English, we carried out a fun and refreshing practical activity by making ice cubes and adding them to our water bottles. Afterwards, the children used their experience to write a clear set of instructions explaining how to make ice. We focused on using time connectives, command verbs and making sure our instructions were in the correct order.

In RE, we were very lucky to welcome a special visitor who came to talk to us about the New Hope charity. The children learned how the charity shares the good news of Jesus by caring for and supporting people who are experiencing homelessness. It was a thoughtful session that encouraged us to think about kindness, compassion and helping others in our community.

In Geography, we continued our learning about the seaside by identifying human features. We discussed the different things that people have built at the seaside, such as piers, shops, cafés, amusement arcades and promenades, and compared these with natural features we have already learned about.

This week's Reflection

In our Collective Worship, we explored the philosophical question: "What could help me to keep going when I feel like giving up?" Together, the children thought about the three most important things they would keep in their own 'toolbox' to help them persevere through challenges. We would love you to continue this conversation at home by asking your child what they chose for their toolbox and discussing what you would include in yours.

Despite the hot weather, the children have shown great resilience and enthusiasm all week. We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and enjoys staying cool!

Democracy in Action

This week also saw our prospective Head Boy and Head Girl candidates share their speeches before the whole school. Our current Pupil Leadership Team led the entire election process, demonstrating fantastic leadership and responsibility. The children took their right to vote extremely seriously, carefully listening to each candidate before casting their vote. Any children who left early due to the hot weather will have the opportunity to vote on Monday, ensuring every voice is heard. We look forward to announcing the results very soon!

Diversity Week

This week, we celebrated our annual Diversity Week. We began by reflecting on how wonderfully unique each one of us is and ended the week by exploring how, despite our differences, we all belong. Through activities based around themes such as light, food, stories with meaning (including Jesus' parables), celebrations, gifts and generosity, the children discovered both the things that make us different and the values we all share.

Your child has brought home their Diversity Passport. Please take some time to complete it together and return it to school by Tuesday. Once completed, children will receive their stickers for each theme. We are looking forward to celebrating everyone's learning with a special Diversity Week display. Above and Beyond stickers will be awarded to all children that bring these back completed and by Tuesday.

Home Learning

To support learning at home, please continue to read at least five times a week and record this in your child’s reading record. Due to the hot weather, we did not complete our spelling lesson this week. We will continue with our spelling learning next week.

Complete the Diversity Passport to bring in on Tuesday.
