In Maths, we have been learning about adding one more. We have been practising finding one more than a number and using different pieces of maths equipment to help us work out the answers. We have really enjoyed making our learning practical and hands-on.

In English, we have started learning about adjectives. We have been thinking carefully about words we can use to describe the features of a character and how adjectives can help us add more detail to our descriptions.

In RE, we explored different parables and talked about what they mean and the messages they teach us. We enjoyed sharing our ideas and thinking about the lessons we can learn from these stories.

In PSHE, we have been thinking about what good listening looks like. We discussed how we can show someone that we are listening carefully, such as looking at the person who is speaking, staying quiet and paying attention to what they are saying. We thought about why being a good listener is important.

In Science, we explored different objects around our classroom and investigated what materials they were made from. We looked closely at the objects and identified materials such as wood, plastic, metal and fabric.

In PE, we have been exploring how animals move. We focused on big animals and practised moving with big, swaying motions and stomping feet. We had lots of fun using our bodies to move like different animals!

In History, we have been learning about how things that happen are remembered. We talked about how we remember important events and made links to our own lives by thinking about how we remember our birthdays and the special things we do to celebrate them.

This week, we also started talking about our Changemaker Project, a whole-school initiative that encourages children to live out our Christian values, take action and make a positive difference in the world around them. Each half term, we will focus on one of our six Christian values: Friendship, Compassion, Trust, Forgiveness, Courage and Perseverance, and the children will choose an activity linked to the value. Once they have completed their chosen activity and brought it back into school, they will receive a Changemaker Project sticker to celebrate their achievement. By collecting all six stickers throughout the year, they will earn a special Changemaker badge to wear proudly around school.
