Friday 25th September

We have had another busy week in Year 3 and everyone has been working extremely hard.

This week in English, we moved onto our third toolkit that focusses on similes, and we explored appropriate comparisons for these types of sentences. Next week we will be combining these with our newly acquired dialogue writing skills.

In Maths, we have continued with our topic on place value, looking at hundreds, tens and ones, with a focus on calculations involving 100, 10 or 1 more or less than a given 3-digit number. Next week we will be looking at number lines up to 1000.

Foundation Subjects

In Art, we practised cross-hatching to shade our sketches of a woolly mammoth skeleton.

In History, we explored the impact of the Bronze on the Stone Age and how this transformed their lives. We also investigated artefacts and what these could tell us about the ways prehistoric people lived.

In Music, we created actions to enhance our performance of David Bowie’s song ‘Space Oddity’

In RE, we explored the meaning of the term ‘Grace’ and how it offers a blessing to people through prayer. We then really enjoyed creating our own blessing verses to add to a song.
