3rd October
Another busy week for us in Year 5! We thoroughly enjoyed National Poetry Day and the online workshop we took part in. The children were really engaged and loved making their own words with definitions. We also enjoyed visiting church for Harvest Festival and taking part in the celebrations.
ENGLISH: We are continuing to explore our toolkit features and look at retelling our model text. The children have learned how to use commas for parenthesis as well as outside/inside sentences to show how the characters may be feeling.
MATHS: We are starting on our new unit of addition and subtraction. We are using mental strategies to help us explore adding and subtracting using powers of 10.
ART: The children have begun constructing their Anglo Saxon crosses like experts. Using cardboard, the children have layered it in a relief pattern and peeled away layers to create varying textures.
PE: During PE, we are continuing to build upon our dance routine - adding both synchronised movements and staggered movements.
RE: Inspired by stained glass glass windows, we have begun to construct our own - reflecting on the importance that architecture plays in churches.
HOME LEARNING:
READING: X5 times a week minimum including reading to an adult.
MATHS & ENGLISH: Being 'in the green' on Doodle.
SPELLING: Please complete the spelling assignment on Doodle.
