What a fabulous and varied week in Year 4!

We have had another busy and exciting week in Year 4, with lots of opportunities to learn, explore and have fun!

We had an amazing trip to the Science Museum to support our learning  with a special workshop titled It Takes Guts. It was a fantastic day full of hands-on learning. We learnt all about the journey of food through the digestive system, which was surprising and revolting in equal measure! We also had a brilliant time in the Wonderlab, where we enjoyed hands-on experiences of science in everyday life. The trip has certainly enhanced our topic knowledge and helped to bring our learning to life. A huge thank you to all the parents who accompanied us and supported our visit. It was greatly appreciated.

We were also very fortunate to welcome Gary and Chris from St Mary’s Church as special visitors. They told us about their roles, how they serve people in our local community and how they share Jesus’ love with others. It was brilliant to see how engaged the children were. They asked some fantastic and thoughtful questions and thoroughly enjoyed talking and listening to Gary and Chris. We are very grateful to them for taking the time to come and speak to us.

In Geography, we investigated the pros and cons of living near a volcano. The general consensus was that we would quite like to live near a volcano — but only if it were extinct!

In Music, we have been learning how to play a walking bass line, while in Maths we have completed our work on place value and are now getting ready to begin our new unit on addition and subtraction.

In English, we have identified the key features, or ‘toolkit’, in our model text. We have had a go at some creative writing using our toolkit and have begun boxing up the story so that we can plan our shared write.

It was also lovely to come together as a whole school at the church yesterday for our Harvest Festival. Throughout the week, we have spent time thinking about all the things we are thankful for.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
