14th November
We’ve had another week of fantastic learning in Year 3, with many highlights including, discovering the remaining sections of our new model text about Pirate’s Cove Island, producing a mixed media illustration for our published narratives, and learning how to complete column addition and subtraction using 2 & 3 digit numbers. We will be continuing to work on these areas next week.
Foundation Subjects:
Science – We completed our focus on the work of James Clerk Maxwell by exploring and making our own versions of his colour wheel. Next week we will be investigating UV light.
Geography – We have started a new topic all about Rivers and this week we explored the water cycle learning the meaning of the terms condensation, evaporation and precipitation.
Music – We have started exploring musical compositions that are related to animations or scenes. We focused on how they help use to imagine what could be happening as the dynamics and pitch of the piece changes.
P.E - We continued to develop our netball skills, focusing on defending and building on our chest pass and pivoting techniques.
R.E - We reflected on our learning about Diwali. We listened to the story of Rama and Sita and enjoyed drawing our favourite scene from the story. We then retold the story as a class. Next week, we will be learning about another special festival — the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
Home Learning:
Doodle - Please continue to support your child’s progress by accessing the Doodle Learning platform and remaining in the green zone for English, Maths and Times tables.
Reading - Please ensure that you have listened to your child read at least five times during the week and signed their reading record. This week we have started to issue some of the children with their bronze badges, and it would be lovely to give out more of these next week.
Spellings - Below are this week’s spelling words to practise with your child, both in isolation as well as writing them in a sentence.
sheet, week, seek, each, teach, squeak, lead, leap
Have a lovely weekend
