English - This week we have been analysing the ‘Cloud Goblins’ model text to spot the non-chronological report toolkit including: subheadings, relative clauses, coordinating conjunctions, rhetorical questions, parenthesis and generalisers. We boxed up the model text and planned our version for when we are ‘Hugging the Text’. 

Maths - This week the class were delighted we were looking at multiplying by 1,0 and 11, which we all agreed were a delight! We also focused on multiplying and dividing by 12.

We timed ourselves filling in an empty multiplication grid. Each week we will compete against ourselves to improve the time in which it takes us to complete the grid. 

History - We had an incredible time stepping back into Ancient Rome this week! The children designed and created their very own Roman shields, complete with bold colours and authentic patterns. Once equipped, they learnt to march like true Roman legionaries, practising their dex (right) and sin (left) commands. They worked brilliantly as a team to form some famous Roman battle formations, including:

🐢 The Tortoise (Testudo)
⚪ The Orb
🐎 Repel Cavalry
🔻 The Wedge

The playground was transformed into a Roman battlefield as they marched, defended, and conquered together. Fantastic teamwork and amazing craftsmanship from everyone! 

Art - we sketched our design for our Cloth, Thread and Paint project. We were inspired by our previous Geography topic, looking at Tsunamis, Volcanoes or Earthquakes.

PSHE - We thought about how we are different from each other and what we have in common.

Guided Reading - We looked at an excerpt from The Accidental Timetraveller.

Homework - We celebrated more children achieving their Bronze badge for reading. Please encourage your children to read with you as it is the most valuable activity they can do. Reading Records are stamped each Friday if children have read at least 5 times a week. There is a Doodle English and Maths assignment and 14 games on TTRS. No Spellings this week due to our Assessment Week.
