28th November
Another busy and exciting week in Year 5.
In English, we have begun to look at alternative non-chronological reports to see if we can find our toolkit features. We have also begun to consider the type of information we will need for writing our shared then independent writes.
We have begun our unit of fractions by using the correct language for what a unit and non unit fraction is. Moreover, we have begun to look at a variety of strategies on how we can find alternative fractions.
In Science, we conducted an experiment where we tested different materials to see if they would be a good thermal insulator. Even though there were a lot good and varied hypotheses, newspaper was the best insulator!
We were very lucky to have Mrs Bastable visit us for a fabulous workshop on Incarnation. We were investigators, trying to find evidence through different bible sources of whether Jesus was the messiah.
On Thursday afternoon, the children took part in 'diversity at Christmas' where they joined their family groups and participated in activities on how different countries celebrate Christmas.
Home Learning
Please ensure that children are 'in the green' on Doodle.
There are assignments set across Doodle which when completing will not only help with the current and upcoming learning but help children get into the green.
Please ensure that children are reading out loud to an adult five times a week. This really supports their reading fluency and gives you an opportunity to help them read unfamiliar words.
Please support your children in starting on their Changemaker project work (if they have not already started!).
Have a lovely weekend!
