First week back!
Welcome back to school everyone! We hope you all had a lovely break and are ready for an exciting new term in Year 1. It has been wonderful to see the children return to school with big smiles and positive attitudes.
This week in Maths, we have been learning all about 3D shapes. The children have been identifying and naming shapes such as cubes, cuboids, spheres and cylinders. We also enjoyed sorting 3D shapes and talking about their properties, including how many faces they have and whether they can roll or stack.
In English, we have been learning about settings in stories. We explored different settings and discussed what we might see, hear and feel in each one. The children shared some brilliant ideas and used lots of descriptive language to help bring settings to life.
We also had fun talking about New Year’s resolutions. The children shared their own ideas about things they would like to get better at or try this year, such as being kinder, practising reading more often, or trying their best in lessons. It was lovely to hear their thoughtful and positive goals.
Please remember to read five times per week and record this in their reading record book. We will start spellings next week.
Thank you for your continued support!
