At St Mary’s, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to explore and develop leadership qualities. Leadership is not only about guiding others but also about fostering confidence, responsibility, and the ability to make thoughtful decisions. To achieve this, we offer a range of opportunities for pupils to take on leadership roles that shape their school experience, while nurturing skills that will serve them throughout their lives. These leadership skills are essential, as they provide a foundation for success in school, the workplace, and in the wider world. Through these experiences, we prepare our pupils to be proactive, compassionate, and effective leaders, equipped to make a positive impact wherever they go.

Every Year 6 pupil at St Mary’s holds a position of responsibility, from Head and Deputy roles to Reading Ambassadors, Digital Leaders, and House Captains.

Leadership is also encouraged across the school through our School Council, Eco Council, Ethos Council, and Sports Council, giving children a voice and helping them shape the life of our school community.
