19th June
Year 1 have had a fantastic week and have been absolute superstars!
As Mr Torrano was away on the Year 6 residential, the children have shown great maturity and adaptability whilst working with a variety of different adults throughout the week. We are incredibly proud of how well they have coped with the changes to their usual routine. They have been respectful, ready to learn and have worked hard for every member of staff.
In English, the children have continued learning how to write clear instructions. They have thought carefully about sequencing their ideas and making their writing easy for others to follow. This week, they were also introduced to green pens, which they have used to edit and improve their work. It has been wonderful to see the children beginning to identify ways to make their writing even better.
In Maths, Year 1 have continued their learning about numbers, focusing on tens and ones. They have been using practical resources and representations to deepen their understanding of place value and develop their confidence with larger numbers.
The week finished with a fantastic sporting afternoon led by Year 5. After completing their Sports Leader training, the Year 5 children organised and delivered a range of fun activities for Year 1 and Reception. Our Year 1 pupils thoroughly enjoyed taking part and showed great enthusiasm, teamwork and determination throughout.
Well done, Year 1, for another brilliant week of learning and for being so positive. We are very proud of you all!
