21st November

What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Year 1! In maths, we have been exploring number bonds to 10, using cubes, counters, and games to help us spot pairs of numbers that fit together to make 10. In English, the children have been preparing to write their very own dragon reports by practising how to describe where dragons might live, using lots of imaginative vocabulary to talk about mountains, caves, forests, and magical lands.

In science, we have been learning about the differences between birds and mammals, looking closely at features such as feathers, fur, beaks, and how different animals care for their young. We have also started practising our songs for the Nativity, and the children are already singing beautifully.

In geography, we’ve been learning how to use maps. We explored the playground using a simple map to find different places and then had a go at making our own maps of the school. In PE, we have been developing our ball skills, focusing on controlling a ball and rolling it carefully and accurately to a partner.
