Friday 23rd January
We’ve had a fabulous week in Year 2 where we are always shining a light, despite the miserable weather outside.
In English, we have continued to develop our writing skills, broadening our vocabulary to describe settings and using prepositions and our senses to bring our descriptions to life. We are a talented bunch!
In Maths, we have begun to explore division and will continue to do so next week. Please support your child's learning in the 2, 5 and 10 times tables: counting backwards and forwards in steps of 2, 5 and 10.
Highlights of our foundation learning this week:
RE - the class were really interested by some of the facts we learnt about the Torah. For example - it takes 2 years to hand write a Torah scroll.
PE - we played games in which we had to practise cooperating well as a team.
Music - we learnt our first song of the British Isles – ‘My Bonnie lies over the ocean'
Science – we explored what a healthy diet looks like and how the five food groups (carbohydrate, protein, fruit and vegetables, dairy and oils and fats) support our body’s health
Art - we explored the work of architect Zaha Hadid and created a paper collage of one of her buildings.
PSHE – we explored situations that made us feel safe and unsafe, for example dark places, busy roads and our homes, and people we could turn to if we felt unsafe, both in school and in the wider community.
Trips: thank you to those parents who have offered to help us on our trips. We are looking forward to deepening and embedding our learning of both our local area (Tuesday 3rd February) as well as Jewish beliefs (Thursday 5th February).
Library: Wednesday is our new day to change Library hooks
Show and Tell: week beginning 26.1

Home Learning
Please continue to read and sign the Reading Record book five times each week.
Practice spellings and put each word into a sentence. We are focussing on developing cursive handwriting so please encourage your child to use this when writing. If you would like details of letter formation please ask.
Please continue with English and maths Doodle learning.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Warm wishes
