6th February 2026

It has been a wonderful week for hands-on learning with 2 class trips in one week! Despite the rain, on Tuesday afternoon, Miss Maguire led us around Rickmansworth, reflecting on its geography and history, and it was brilliant to see the River Colne, the lakes of the Aquadrome (made from quarrying for Wembley Stadium), the main buildings and shops of the High Street, rather than view them from photographs or maps alone. All the time we were embedding our learning of 'human' and 'physical' features, ready for our Mastermind competition on Tuesday next week, where our specialist chosen subject will be the town of Rickmansworth!
On Thursday, (again in spite of the rain!), we had a brilliant trip to Northwood synagogue where we met Rabbi Aaron who showed us the main features of their sanctuary and the Ark where the Torah scrolls are kept. He brought out 2 scrolls for us to compare: one that is 350 years old and their newest scroll of 50 years. Knowing how precious the Torah scroll is for a Jewish believer the children showed great care, respect and interest. We completed our trip by trying on a kippah (cap) and a prayer shawl.
A huge thank you to all the parents who supported us on our trips this week, we really appreciated your enthusiasm and commitment, especially in the rain! A special mention of thanks to Miss Sofroniou and Mrs Puddle-Kay who went above and beyond, accompanying us on both days. Thank you. For our next class trip in the Summer term, we have ordered golden sunshine and warmth!
Back in the classroom: in Maths, we completed our unit on multiplication and division. Next week, we will be starting our topic on fractions.
In English we wrote our own wishing tales. These will be edited and 'published' next week.
Change Maker Project:
This weekend is the final opportunity for your child to complete their activity to show how they have reflected on this half-term's value of TRUST. Please do continue supporting them as they collect and record evidence for their chosen activity. We are looking forward to the results next week!
