7th November

It was lovely to see everyone back in school on Tuesday. We launched into our new English unit (a non- chronological report about monsters) and our History topic (explorers with Explorer Bear - a distant cousin of Pirate Bear!) with gusto and enthusiasm.  We have already started to practise using tools from our new toolkit. Next week we will introduce 2 more tools: generalists (most, all, some) and comparative sentences (whereas) into our writing.

In Maths, we have continued to develop our addition strategies by learning how to add 2-digit numbers together (not yet crossing the ten). Next week we will complete the addition strategies and then begin to refine our subtraction skills. Quick-fire questions at home, around number bonds to 10 and 20 (eg, 3 + __ = 10? 20 - 6 = ?,

20 - ___ = 4) would be appreciated and beneficial.

Reading: please keep supporting reading! 12 Bronze badges have been given out this week. Well done to all who have received them so far.

Thank you for supporting your child in their Change Maker Project activity. We had a great number of the class complete a Friendship activity. Fantastic! Next week, we will start exploring the compassion activities designed to deepen and nurture our sense of compassion, with a view to each pupil completing one as before.

Next week we will also be introducing this year's Nativity and will learn some of the songs:) In RE we will begin to revisit the Christmas story whilst learning the role of the wise men and angels.

Reminder: it is Anti-bullying week next week. Odd Socks Day on Monday!

Have a

lovely weekend.
