28th November
We have had an exciting week in Year 2 with daily rehearsals of our Nativity play:) We have been busy learning lines, putting actions to songs and working out interactions as we perform. Today we have sent home songs words for the children to practise for the next 2 weeks. We are really looking forward to sharing this with you on 11th December.
In class, we have completed our learning of subtraction strategies and will begin exploring 2D and 3D shape for the remainder of the term. Next week, we will spend our English lessons boxing and hugging our non-chronological monster report using all the tool we have worked on from our toolkit.
Foundation subject learning:
RE - that Christians believe Jesus was a baby King and why
History - explored the life of Dame Ellen MacArthur
PE - practised using chest passes
Music - followed the pitch and melody when singing, knowing when to come in after an musical introduction
DT - constructing moving monster linkages
Science - exploring ocean habitats
Nativity costumes: please can every child (Joseph, soldiers, Herod, wise men, shepherds, innkeepers) wear a dark base layer (black, brown, navy, grey. NO logos. Long sleeved, long legged)
Angels and Mary - please bring in WHITE leggings /bottoms and a white top instead.
We have many costumes in school so there is no need to provide anything besides the named base layer.
Narrators: no base layer required but please wear smart party clothes instead.
In a named bag on Monday 8th December please.
Please keep practising spellings with your child, and as part of the practise, each word should be written into a sentence.
Please read and sign the Reading Record five times and continue with Doodle Learning maths and English.
Change Maker Project: one of our Collective Worship times this week was spent looking at the Compassion activities in the Change Maker Project. The class were really enthusiastic and full of great ideas and thoughtfulness, as always. Please do support them to complete an activity, and where necessary do send us an email to confirm what they have done or catch us at the classroom door in the morning.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
