Friday 9th January

Happy New Year!
Welcome back to school and welcome to the Spring term! We have had a great 3 days back in class, and have already launched many of our new units of learning. In English this week we began to explore our new Wishing Tale text, about a bird called Pip, who is learning to fly. Next week, we will be learning about the tools we are focusing on this half-term.
In Maths, we started our unit on multiplication and division, thinking about equal and unequal groups. Next week we will be learning to use the multiplication symbol, write multiplication sentences and recognise arrays.
Below are the topics we will be exploring this half-term:
RE - Jewish faith - holy books, the Torah
PE - team building skills; gymnastics
Geography - our local area of Rickmansworth, including our class field trip on Tuesday 3rd February
Music – On the Island
Science – Animals including humans - Growth
Art – Be an architect
PSHCE – keeping Safe
Show and Tell - We will be launching 'Show and Tell' sessions on a Wednesday, as of next week. We are going to split the class up into 5 groups (1 per group) so that everyone has an opportunity to talk to the class about something of interest to them, if they would like to. It is not a requirement; it is an invitation :) Please can only those listed children bring in any interesting object/resource/memorabilia on a Wednesday.
Week beg: 12.1.26 - Alex, Amelia, Angelos, Apostolos, Beau, Betty.
New spellings will be given out again next week to be learnt for the following week. None were given this week.
Thank you for your support with reading over the holidays, please continue to read and record this in the Reading Record book five times each week.
Have a wonderful weekend.
