Friday 10th July

This week, Year 3 have shone in so many ways, from showcasing their teamwork and sportsmanship skills to producing some wonderful pieces of work, especially in English.
English - This week, we have been using our refined persuasion skills to draft our own persuasive speeches, linking our learning to deforestation and the ongoing issues facing the Amazon Rainforest. Next week, we can't wait to publish them!
Maths - We have been working on telling the time to the nearest minute, reading times on a digital clock, and applying this knowledge to a.m. and p.m. Over the weekend, please take the opportunity to practise this skill with your child to help strengthen their understanding.
Foundation Subjects - In addition to all the wonderful sports workshops they have taken part in this week, Year 3 have also covered the following:
DT – We completed the embellishment stage of our collars and created our own step-by-step guides explaining how to make them.
Music – We collaborated to play a melody using the notes A and B and learnt how to place our fingers on the recorder to play a G.
Home Learning -
Doodle - Please continue to support your child's progress by accessing the Doodle Learning platform and ensuring they remain in the green zone for English, Maths and Times Tables. Assignments have been set to build upon the learning we will be covering for the rest of this term.
Reading - Please ensure you listen to your child read at least five times each week and sign their reading record on each occasion. This allows them to be rewarded with a star stamp for their efforts. Please also ensure that reading books are brought into school on their allocated changing day, as noted on the front of their reading records.
Spellings - Assignments have been set on Doodle to build upon and provide a revision opportunity for the suffixes we have been focusing on.
Change Maker Project - This half-term, we are focusing on the value of Perseverance. Please could children bring in their evidence by Thursday 16th July.
