As we conclude our last full week in Year 3, we have taken the opportunity to reflect on our highlights from the past year, while continuing to enjoy the final steps of our current learning journeys together.

English - This week, we have been busy publishing our persuasive speeches, taking great care to ensure that we showcase our very best handwriting.

Maths - We have now completed our unit on time. Over the summer, it would be great if the children could continue to practise this important skill and further develop their acquired knowledge.

Foundation Subjects

DT – We completed the final touches to our collars and evaluated how they turned out compared with our original design ideas.

Geography – We concluded our Rainforest unit with a quiz to see how much we could remember from all the areas we have covered.

PSHE – We discussed some basic first aid skills and learnt how to make a 999 call if we were ever faced with an emergency.

Music – We concluded our recorder unit with a fun quiz. The children will continue to build upon everything they have learnt so far, as well as learning new notes and melodies on the recorder, when they move into Year 4.

Transition to Year 4 – Today, the children had the exciting opportunity to spend time in their new Year 4 classroom with Mrs Bartram and Mrs Garland. They enjoyed exploring their new learning environment and taking part in a range of activities together. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and excitement for the year ahead, and they are already looking forward to the many new opportunities and experiences that Year 4 will bring.

Home Learning

Doodle - Please continue to support your child's progress by accessing the Doodle Learning platform and ensuring they remain in the green zone for English, Maths and Times Tables. Assignments have been set to build upon the learning we will be covering for the remainder of the term.

Reading - Please could any reading books, reading records and library books be returned on Monday so that they can be sorted before the summer holidays

Summer Holiday Challenge

We want our children to enjoy a wonderful summer break while also keeping their minds active. Research shows that children can lose around one month of learning over the holidays without regular practice. Our optional Summer Home Learning activities are designed to be fun and easy to fit around family life. Even just 10–15 minutes of reading each day can make a real difference. We have also included our Summer Bingo challenge, packed with activities that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence, helping children continue to explore and learn through real-life experiences. We hope the children enjoy completing as many as they can!

Next week

Tuesday Morning – Please drop your child off at St Mary's Church by 8:45am for our Year 6 Leavers' Service. If any parents are available to help us walk the children back to school afterwards, we would be very grateful.

Children do not need to bring their school bags, but they will need a packed lunch (if they are not having a school hot meal) and a water bottle.

School finishes for the summer holidays on Tuesday 21st at 1:10 pm.
