Welcome back to school - I hope that you all had a wonderful half term break and are feeling ready to take on Autumn 2!

This week in English, we have completed publishing our narratives, and started to explore our new model text based on non-chronological report writing.

In Maths, we have been focusing on adding 1’s across a 10 and 10’s across 100.

 

Foundation Subjects:

Art – Completed our evaluations for our Stone Age project and discussed our new DT project which will be based around the theme ‘Pavilions’

Science – We have started a new topic all about ‘Light and Shadow’ this week we focused on natural and artificial light sources, and shone a light on James Clerk Maxwell who hugely influenced this field in science.

P.E - We developed our netball passing and movement skills through fun, active challenges. We also explored what makes a successful pass, focusing on accuracy, control, and teamwork.

R.E - We introduced our new topic about Festivals of Light. We talked about what we enjoy celebrating, how we celebrate before finding out a little about the Hindu festival of Diwali.


Home Learning:

Doodle - Please continue to support your child’s learning by accessing the Doodle Learning platform and remaining in the green zone for English, Maths and Times tables

Reading -   Please continue to hear your child read at least five times during the week, and sign and date when you listen to them in their reading records.

Spellings -  Below are words to practise with your child, both in isolation as well as writing them in a sentence:

Next Week:

It is anti-bullying week and we will be marking this week with an Odd Socks Day on Monday, as well as throughout the week focusing on theme of  ‘The power of good’
