What another busy week we have had in Year 5!
In Maths, we are beginning to look at shape. We have learnt how to read an angle using a protractor and begun to explore using protractors to draw angles accurately.
We have learnt in Science that different countries around the world may be in a different time zone compared to us. Some countries are ahead of us while others are behind us. We have also begun constructing our own planets with the intention of giving them facts such as a set amount of hours they take to rotate and their terrain features.
The children have begun their independent writes for the current unit - suspense narrative. Everyone has been so engaged throughout this topic and I can already see how successfully the children are using the toolkit features whilst taking inspiration from our model and shared writes.
We explored the significance of Trade in the Golden Age of Islam for our History unit. We looked at how important not only trading goods was at the time, but how knowledge was shared across different nations too. The children were surprised at how far the 'Silk Road' allowed trade to happen - all the way from east Asia to Europe.
In RE, the children looked at Salah - how Muslims pray. They explored the different aspects of Salah such as facing the Kaaba in Mecca, praying in Arabic and the special way of washing before prayer (Wudu).
Well done to those who have brought in their changemaker projects. I am really proud of the effort everyone has made and excited for everyone to share them!
