The highlight of our week was definitely our WW2 Day on Thursday, and the children absolutely rose to the occasion. They looked brilliant in their costumes and really embraced the spirit of the era. Throughout the day, we practised air raid drills, created powerful blackout poetry, and even took part in “Singing for Victory” with a rousing rendition of The White Cliffs of Dover. The children also enjoyed learning how to crack wartime codes and worked in teams to produce their own radio broadcasts about D-Day.
In RE, we have been exploring the different spiritual pathways in Hinduism that lead to moksha. We thought carefully about how each pathway might influence a person’s daily actions and choices.
In DT, we have begun constructing our evacuee torches, using our knowledge of circuits and design. We are looking forward to completing these next week.
Our PSHE lessons have focused on understanding that drugs can be medical, non-medical, legal or illegal, and the children have shown maturity in discussing how these categories affect people’s choices and safety.
In Science, we put our understanding of electrical circuits to the test by creating our own working traffic light systems. It was a real challenge to ensure that only one bulb lit up at a time, but with careful thinking and precise switching, we made it work.
Our Positive Minds session this week focused on the 5 ways to wellbeing: Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice and Give Back. We considered different ways we could do this, both in and out of school, and have a short checklist of challenges/tasks linked to these areas to try and complete before the Positive Minds programme ends.
Changemaker Project: This weekend is the final opportunity for your child to complete their activity to show how they have reflected on this half-term's value of TRUST. Please do continue supporting them as they collect and record evidence for their chosen activity. We are looking forward to the results next week!
