Friday, 17th April

Welcome back to the summer term! It’s been lovely to see the children return looking rested, refreshed and ready for what will be a very busy and exciting final term. They’ve settled straight back into learning with great focus and enthusiasm.

This week, we have been completing our science learning journey on evolution and inheritance. We explored how animals and plants adapt to their environments and investigated how fossils can give us clues about life in the past. It was interesting comparing fossil evidence with modern‑day species and discussing how adaptations help living things survive.

In maths, we have been working with line graphs, dual bar charts and pie charts, building confidence in interpreting data and spotting patterns. We have explored a range of strategies to calculate and interpret information from these graphs, and have designed some of our own questions.

In English, we have launched our new unit on suspense narratives. This half term, we’ll be using our model text and the book Cogheart by Peter Bunzl as inspiration. To kick things off, we had a steampunk drawing session, exploring the mechanical, imaginative world that will shape our writing.

We also had a special visit yesterday from Hertfordshire Police, who delivered a cybercrime workshop. The session was both interesting and informative, helping the children understand how to stay safe online and why digital responsibility matters.
