Friday, 8th May

Although it's only been a 4-day week, it has felt as busy as ever!
In RE, we explored how Humanists answer big questions about God and religion. The children looked closely at Humanist campaigns and thought carefully about how values such as kindness, fairness and reason shape their views.

In Science, we began our new topic on the circulatory system. The class learnt how the heart pumps blood around the body, how oxygen is collected in the lungs, and how oxygenated blood travels through the heart before being sent to every part of us. They asked thoughtful questions and showed great scientific curiosity.

Our DT cooking project continued this week as we created the main courses for our Come Dine With Me challenge. The teamwork, creativity and presentation were fantastic — and the meals were rated highly by their groups!

In English, we have started drafting our suspense narratives, focusing on atmosphere, tension and precise vocabulary choices.
Meanwhile, in Geography, we learned about the disappearing village of Skipsea and explored how coastal erosion affects homes and communities near the sea.

Please also remember to keep thinking about the Changemaker Project and which courage activity you might choose to take action on.

Home Learning:

There is no home learning set for this week. Please rest, relax and get plenty of sleep over the weekend so you feel refreshed and ready for SATs on Monday. We are looking forward to seeing many of you at breakfast club from 8am.

Please remember: SATs are just a tiny fraction of who you are. They don’t measure your kindness, your creativity, your humour, your courage, your friendships or the brilliant person you are becoming. You are already enough, and we are incredibly proud of you. Go into next week with confidence — you’ve got this.

Next week:
SATs are taking place Monday - Thursday.

Thursday 14th May - 13:45 - Parent Rep meeting

Friday 15th May – Mrs Rayburn’s final day before starting maternity leave

On Friday, we will be celebrating with a special lunch and afternoon! More details to follow.
