What is the Changemaker Project?

The Changemaker Project is a whole-school initiative that brings our vision and values to life. It encourages every child to take action in their community, show leadership, and shine their light. Through this project, pupils build character, deepen empathy, and grow as ethical agents of change – confident, responsible citizens who make a difference both in school and beyond.

Each half term, we focus on one of our six core Christian values:

• Friendship

• Compassion

• Trust

• Forgiveness

• Courage

• Perseverance

By living out these values, children learn to serve others, show kindness, solve problems, and persevere in making the world a better place.

 

 

How does it work?

Each half term, children choose one of four carefully designed actions linked to the focus value. These activities are introduced by class teachers in Week 1 and are tailored for each Key Stage. The actions develop key qualities such as creativity, empathy, leadership, communication, and self-reflection.

Children complete their chosen action both at school and at home as an optional extra homework task. Midway through the half term, classes pause to reflect together – sharing progress, inspiring one another, and celebrating how their values are making an impact.

At the end of the half term, children who have completed their action receive a Changemaker Project sticker. Those who collect all six stickers across the year will be awarded a special Changemaker badge, recognising their commitment to living out our school vision in practical ways.

 

 

Working Together with Families

We know children thrive when school and home work in partnership. Families can support by:

• Talking with their child about the action they have chosen.

• Helping them find opportunities to live it out in daily life.

• Encouraging them when challenges arise.

• Celebrating every small step and success along the way.

 

 

The St Mary’s Changemaker Project is a bespoke programme that empowers pupils to take action, live out our Christian values, and shine their light in the world.
