I would like on behalf of the school staff and governors to thank you for your interest in our school.
St Mary’s Primary School is one of the earliest established schools in our area and dates back to 1711.
The school is in an exceptional location with beautiful surroundings that gives us a tranquil space for learning to take place for all our pupils. Our children are all known to our staff as individuals and share a caring and aspirational learning experience. We work with our parents to ensure that all children achieve their full potential and are prepared for life ahead. We are committed to ensuring that each child is the best they can be.
Our pupils SATS results were strong and as shown on our website exceeded the national scores, and all transferred to the secondary school of their choice.
We provide a wide-ranging curriculum that helps our children develop an interest in a range of subjects. We have full time sports coaches to allow us to excel in our sporting and fitness activities and we were awarded the Gold Sports Mark in 2022-23.
We seek to provide an exciting and aspirational learning experience that develops pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
In 2019 the school was inspected by Ofsted and was graded as “a good school” and the inspectors reported that “the school has a caring, inclusive ethos where pupils are looked after well and parents, carers and staff are overwhelmingly supportive of the work of the school”
Our pupils enjoy coming to school, they enjoy their lessons and the many extra curriculum activities that we provide. In line with the school’s Christian ethos, we take a pride in educating our pupils and developing a strong sense in them whatever their faith or none.
We look forward to meeting you and your children to the school in the weeks ahead and we offer all potential pupils and their families a personal tour of the school at a time to suit you.
Yours sincerely
David Carruthers Chair of Governors
